Nightmare Escape 1.2

Nightmare Escape is a simple platformer game I started last year as a course project and decided to use as a study project to obtain the needed programming skills of making a decent platformer game. It starts very, very simple and every version will add more complexity and flavor to the game, expanding the possibilities and enriching the gameplay.

- version 1.2 is the first upgrade: extended and enhanced version of the original with more enemies and an actual story that goes with the game.
- version 2.0 is a sequel that Hex and I made (and are working on) for a game dev event last month.
This on is still in development, but very close to completion.

Plot & features:
In 1.2 you are in the role of Abigale, 9 year old red-head girl. Her little sister, the 5 year old Emily has been kidnapped by one of the Nightmare lords into the world of dreams. Abigale goes into the dream to save her sister and she's not alone - the family cat mrs. Wiskers goes with her and transforms into a nightmare-slaying ghost cat!
There are health refills on the way to pick up.

Gameplay:
About minute and a half :D You just hit the enemies 'till they dead. Still no bosses available.
There are some weird bugs that couldn't be removed no matter what:

1) On the 3rd platform of lvl 1 you get stuck when you stop attacking the enemy, but you can easily jump your way away from there

2) If you don't kill the first enemy with health bar, the next one's health bar will not indicate damage intake. The enemy will still die.

3) There is one place in the 2nd lvl where you might not pass between two platforms, but there is a way around

Coding, graphics and resources:
All the coding is done on Game Maker studio with GM language (java based programming language). This was my first encounter of object orientated programming and I enjoyed it a lot.

All the backgrounds and platform in the game are my doing. Photoshop skills much? Yes!
The sprites for the Abigale and the enemies are done with BannedStory4

Download:
You can download and try the game from here. It's a single .exe file, tested and working on Win 7 & 8

Feedback:
is always welcome :) Say what you think of the game (keep in mind it's just a study project done over a weekend) and note if you encounter bugs other than the described above.
